      I like shooting this sort of scene with a focal length typically used for portraits… i.e. not so much of a telephoto that the picture says “telephoto at work.” But enough to capture simple elements without clutter.

  1. All the “stuff” that accumulates on the edges of lakes like this usually seems like an intrusion but not here. The leaden reflections complement the bits of flora on the surface. And then there’s the perfectly placed plant with its delicate shadow just topping it off. The way you balanced the tones is mysterious.
