      1. They are! I have a vague memory of a wetland in New Jersey fuil of Atlantic cedar stumps – very old one – that you could see from a preserve, with the Empire State Building in the background. That was cool!

        1. NJ has some vast Atlantic White Cedar stands in the Pine Barrens. I would’ve liked to have seen that pic you described.

          It’s a scarce tree out here on the East End (this image was Eastern Red Cedar). There are some small stands of Atlantic White in wetlands in Hampton Bays and Riverhead… and a very small grove in Southampton (which I photographed a few years ago):
