  1. This is really a striking image, John! The sharp, dark foreground silhouette against the soft, bright clouds…beautiful! I don’t know about you but I often find it very difficult to get a fully satisfying black & white representation of the “mother of pearl” clouds like some parts of this photograph. In those cases, I am grateful for the option of using color. šŸ™‚

    1. Thanks Mike, that’s a great comment. Years ago, when I first saw films like DAYS OF HEAVEN and BARRY LYNDON I was whisked away by color photography in a way that changed my life. Since then, having shot and printed far more color images than b/w, I find myself slowly arcing back to my monochrome roots. As you know, experiencing that gratefulness for the color option is most poignant when color is not the default assumption. šŸ™‚
