WOW! These are terrific!
Thanks Ken. It was fun to make the b.w. conversions.
What great canvases!
Much appreciated Maya — good way to refer to them.
I think the 3rd and 4th are my favorites, great work!
Thanks Tom, nice to hear from you.
Cos’è un pneumatico?
In italiano si dice “gomma” o “pneumatico”? Non sono sicuro..
Genericamente gomma…precisamente pneumatico. Vuoi dire che è un pneumatico?
Si tratta di fotografie di cinque pneumatici… 🙂
🙂

much appreciated..
Amazing textures and tones John. A very clever study! 🙂
Thanks Adrian. It helped to visualize them as charcoal sketches while working on them.
I really like it that you took something so commonplace and opened it up to speculation. They’re like dark dreamscapes or patches of branded ground. Fascinating.
thanks Richard.
Excellent! Lovely details… The motifs are everywhere.
Have a nice day, John!
thank you Malin
So contemporary yet fossilized so beautifully!
Love that comment. Your descriptions of photographs show great imagination.
Wonderful set! Traces and text.
Traces and text — I like that.
I love these – and I see I’m not alone! They’re so good together – all that texture – perfectly done!
What stories they could tell…
…you wonder how far from home they went.
Fantastic idea! They make me think of surreal earth images from the moon, or some other place viewed high above..the numbers could be ploughed fields or crop circles..great tones too!
Now I realize why I’ve missed your comments. Thanks Cath; it’s always a pleasure to hear from you.
Who knew old tires could make such wonderful subjects . . . until John Todaro came along. Has anyone else told you how terrific these are? 🙂
Thanks. I’m finding it hard not to anthropomorphize the 2nd one down, although this has the benefit of creating some humor.
Ooo, that texture is yummy…
🙂
Bardzo oryginalne i bardzo ciekawe! Świetny pomysł.
